F2RL2

Description

The F2RL2 (coagulation factor II thrombin receptor like 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

F2RL2, also known as PAR-3 and thrombin receptor-like 2, is a protein encoded by the F2RL2 gene. It is a member of the 7-transmembrane receptor family and is activated by thrombin, a protein involved in blood clotting. Activation occurs through proteolytic cleavage of F2RL2's extracellular amino terminus, which then acts as a tethered ligand to activate the receptor. F2RL2 plays a role in thrombin-induced phosphoinositide hydrolysis and is expressed in various tissues. It also acts as a cofactor for the activation of another protein, F2RL3, by thrombin.

F2RL2 is a receptor that binds activated thrombin and triggers a signaling cascade through G proteins, leading to the breakdown of phosphoinositides.

F2RL2 is also known as PAR-3, PAR3.
