EXD3

Description

The EXD3 (exonuclease 3'-5' domain containing 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

EXD3 possesses 3'-5' exoribonuclease activity, which means it can break down RNA molecules from their 3' end. This activity is crucial for trimming the 3' ends of microRNAs (miRNAs) that are bound to the AGO1 protein, a key component of the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway. The proper trimming of miRNAs is essential for their function in regulating gene expression.

EXD3 is also known as Nbr, mut-7.
