ERVMER34-1

Description

The ERVMER34-1 (endogenous retrovirus group MER34 member 1, envelope) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

ERVMER34-1, like other endogenous envelope proteins, is derived from retroviral envelope proteins. These proteins originally played crucial roles in mediating receptor recognition and membrane fusion during viral infection. However, over evolutionary time, ERVMER34-1 may have retained, lost, or altered its original function.

ERVMER34-1 is also known as HEMO, envMER34.
