ERP27

Description

The ERP27 (endoplasmic reticulum protein 27) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

ERP27 specifically binds to unfolded proteins and can attract the protein disulfide isomerase PDIA3 to assist in their folding. It achieves this by using a hydrophobic pocket in its C-terminal domain to interact with its substrates. This suggests ERP27 might play a role in managing unfolded proteins and responding to stress.

ERP27 is also known as C12orf46, PDIA8.
