EPN1

Description

The EPN1 (epsin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

Epsin-1 is a protein encoded by the EPN1 gene in humans. It is an endocytic accessory protein that interacts with EPS15, the alpha subunit of the clathrin adaptor AP2 (AP2A1), clathrin, and other accessory proteins involved in endocytosis of clathrin-coated vesicles. EPN1 interacts with REPS2, AP2A2, and EPS15.

EPN1 binds to membranes enriched in phosphatidylinositol 4,5- bisphosphate (PtdIns(4,5)P2), modifies membrane curvature, facilitates the formation of clathrin-coated invaginations, and regulates receptor-mediated endocytosis.

EPN1 is also known as -.
