EP400

Description

The EP400 (E1A binding protein p400) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

EP400 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EP400 gene. EP400 has been shown to interact with Transformation/transcription domain-associated protein, RuvB-like 1 and Myc.

EP400 is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex, which plays a key role in activating gene expression by acetylating histones H4 and H2A. This acetylation alters the interaction between nucleosomes and DNA, facilitating the binding of other proteins involved in transcription. EP400 may also be necessary for activating E2F1 and MYC target genes during cell growth. The NuA4 complex possesses ATPase and helicase activity, which is partially attributed to the presence of RUVBL1 and RUVBL2 in association with EP400. Furthermore, EP400 might regulate the transcription of ZNF42. Additionally, EP400 is part of a SWR1-like complex that removes the histone H2A.Z/H2AZ1 variant from nucleosomes.

EP400 is also known as CAGH32, P400, TNRC12.
