EML4

Description

The EML4 (EMAP like 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The EML4 gene encodes a protein involved in cancers when spliced with the anaplastic lymphoma kinase.

EML4 is essential for the formation and stability of microtubules (MTs). It is required for the organization of the mitotic spindle and the proper attachment of kinetochores to MTs. EML4 promotes the recruitment of NUDC to the mitotic spindle for mitotic progression.

EML4 is also known as C2orf2, ELP120, EMAP-4, EMAPL4, ROPP120.
