ELF1
Description
The ELF1 (E74 like ETS transcription factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.
The ELF1 gene encodes a transcription factor that plays a role in regulating the expression of various genes. ELF1 is primarily expressed in lymphoid cells and can act as both an enhancer and a repressor of gene transcription. The gene produces multiple transcript variants through alternative splicing.
ELF1 is a transcription factor that activates the LYN and BLK promoters. It plays a role in the activation of HIV-2 gene expression by the T-cell receptor. ELF1 binds to specific purine-rich motifs in the HIV-2 enhancer.
ELF1 is also known as EFTUD1, RIA1.
