ELAC1

Description

The ELAC1 (elaC ribonuclease Z 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

ELAC1 is a human gene that encodes for the zinc phosphodiesterase ELAC protein 1. This enzyme is a phosphodiesterase.

ELAC1 is a zinc phosphodiesterase that exhibits tRNA 3'-processing endonuclease activity. It plays a key role in tRNA repair, acting downstream of the ribosome-associated quality control (RQC) pathway. Following tRNA cleavage by ANKZF1, ELAC1 removes a 2',3'-cyclic phosphate from the tRNA, allowing subsequent processing by TRNT1.

ELAC1 is also known as D29.
