EID3


Description

The EID3 (EP300 interacting inhibitor of differentiation 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

EID3 is a testis-specific component of the SMC5-SMC6 complex, which plays a crucial role in DNA repair through homologous recombination. This complex facilitates sister chromatid homologous recombination by attracting the SMC1-SMC3 cohesin complex to double-strand breaks. Furthermore, it is essential for telomere maintenance through recombination and regulates the sumoylation of shelterin complex components.

EID3 is also known as NS4EB, NSE4B, NSMCE4B.
