EID1

Description

The EID1 (EP300 interacting inhibitor of differentiation 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

EP300-interacting inhibitor of differentiation 1 is a protein encoded by the EID1 gene in humans. EID1 interacts with EP300 and the Retinoblastoma protein.

EID1 interacts with RB1 and EP300, acting as a repressor of MYOD1 transactivation. It inhibits EP300 and CBP histone acetyltransferase activity. EID1 may play a role in linking cell cycle exit to the transcriptional activation of genes necessary for cellular differentiation. It might also act as a coinhibitory factor for NR0B2, potentially directly involved in transcription inhibition.

EID1 is also known as C15orf3, CRI1, EID-1, IRO45620, PNAS-22, PTD014, RBP21.
