DYNLL1

Description

The DYNLL1 (dynein light chain LC8-type 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

DYNLL1 encodes a protein called Dynein light chain 1, cytoplasmic. This protein is part of the cytoplasmic dynein complex, a large enzyme responsible for intracellular transport and motility. Dynein light chain 1, cytoplasmic also interacts with neuronal nitric oxide synthase and inhibits its activity, potentially influencing many biological processes. Different versions of this protein are created through alternative splicing.

DYNLL1 is a component of the cytoplasmic dynein 1 complex, which acts as a motor for intracellular transport of vesicles and organelles along microtubules. It likely helps connect dynein to cargo and adapter proteins, regulating its function. DYNLL1 may also contribute to the organization and distribution of cytoskeletal structures.

DYNLL1 is also known as DLC1, DLC8, DNCL1, DNCLC1, LC8, LC8a, PIN, hdlc1.
