DYNC1I1

Description

The DYNC1I1 (dynein cytoplasmic 1 intermediate chain 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

Cytoplasmic dynein 1 intermediate chain 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the DYNC1I1 gene. In melanocytic cells DYNC1I1 gene expression may be regulated by MITF.

== Interactions == DYNC1I1 has been shown to interact with DYNLL1.

DYNC1I1 is a non-catalytic component of the cytoplasmic dynein 1 complex. It functions in linking dynein to cargo and adaptor proteins that regulate dynein activity. Cytoplasmic dynein 1 acts as a motor for moving vesicles and organelles along microtubules within the cell. DYNC1I1 helps connect dynein to dynactin, a protein complex that assists in cargo movement, through the DCTN1 protein. It may also facilitate interactions between cytoplasmic dynein and cellular structures like membranes and kinetochores (the protein structures that connect chromosomes to microtubules).

DYNC1I1 is also known as DNCI1, DNCIC1.
