DUSP5

Description

The DUSP5 (dual specificity phosphatase 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

Dual specificity protein phosphatase 5 (DUSP5) is an enzyme produced by the DUSP5 gene in humans. It belongs to the dual specificity protein phosphatase subfamily, which inactivates kinases by removing phosphate groups from phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. DUSP5 specifically regulates members of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase superfamily, including MAPK/ERK, SAPK/JNK, and p38, which are involved in cellular growth and differentiation. DUSP5 inactivates ERK1/2 and is found in various tissues, with the highest concentrations in the pancreas and brain. It is localized within the nucleus.

DUSP5 is also known as DUSP, HVH3.
