DUSP3

Description

The DUSP3 (dual specificity phosphatase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

Dual specificity protein phosphatase 3 (DUSP3) is an enzyme that inactivates kinases by removing phosphate groups from both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. It primarily regulates the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase superfamily, which is involved in cell growth and differentiation. DUSP3 is particularly important in regulating ERK1 and ERK2, two key members of the MAP kinase family. It interacts with MAPK3 and MAPK1, and its gene is located near the BRCA1 locus, associated with breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility. However, DUSP3 itself has not been linked to these cancers.

DUSP3 is also known as VHR.
