DUSP26
Description
The DUSP26 (dual specificity phosphatase 26) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
DUSP26 inactivates MAPK1 and MAPK3, leading to dephosphorylation of heat shock factor protein 4 and reduced DNA-binding activity. It also inhibits MAP kinase p38 by dephosphorylation, preventing p38-mediated apoptosis in anaplastic thyroid cancer cells. Interestingly, DUSP26 can also activate MAP kinase p38 and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK).
DUSP26 is also known as DSP-4, DUSP24, LDP-4, LDP4, MKP-8, MKP8, NATA1, NEAP, SKRP3.
