DUSP1

Description

The DUSP1 (dual specificity phosphatase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

DUSP1 is an enzyme involved in regulating cellular responses to stress and proliferation. It is activated by oxidative/heat stress and growth factors. DUSP1 inactivates mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase by dephosphorylating both its phosphothreonine and phosphotyrosine residues. This dephosphorylation specifically inactivates MAP kinase, preventing its activation by oncogenic ras. DUSP1 has been shown to interact with MAPK14, MAPK1 and MAPK8.

DUSP1 is also known as CL100, HVH1, MKP-1, MKP1, PTPN10.
