DPY30

Description

The DPY30 (dpy-30 histone methyltransferase complex regulatory subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

DPY30 is part of the MLL1/MLL complex, which is involved in the methylation of histone H3 at 'Lys-4', particularly trimethylation. This methylation marks the gene for epigenetic transcriptional activation. DPY30 may also play a role in histone H3 acetylation. In a teratocarcinoma cell, DPY30 is crucial for retinoic acid-induced differentiation along the neural lineage, regulating gene induction and H3 'Lys-4' methylation at key developmental loci. DPY30 may also play a role in endosomal transport.

DPY30 is also known as Cps25, HDPY-30, Saf19.
