DPP7

Description

The DPP7 (dipeptidyl peptidase 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

DPP7 is a gene that produces an enzyme called dipeptidyl-peptidase 2. This enzyme is found in inactive lymphocytes and is responsible for breaking down proteins after they have been made (post-proline cleaving aminopeptidase). This enzyme helps to keep lymphocytes in an inactive state by preventing them from dying (apoptosis). If this enzyme is blocked, the lymphocytes will become active and die.

DPP7 plays a crucial role in the breakdown of certain short chains of amino acids (oligopeptides).

DPP7 is also known as DPP2, DPPII, QPP.
