DPP6

Description

The DPP6 (dipeptidyl peptidase like 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

DPP6 is a protein encoded by the DPP6 gene. It is a single-pass type II membrane protein belonging to the S9B family of serine proteases. DPP6 lacks detectable protease activity due to the absence of a conserved serine residue in its catalytic domain. However, it binds to specific voltage-gated potassium channels, influencing their expression and biophysical properties. Different isoforms of DPP6 are produced through alternative splicing.

DPP6 promotes the cell surface expression of the potassium channel KCND2. It also modulates the activity and gating characteristics of KCND2. DPP6 does not exhibit dipeptidyl aminopeptidase activity.

DPP6 is also known as DPL1, DPPX, MRD33, VF2.
