DPEP2

Description

The DPEP2 (dipeptidase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

Dipeptidase 2 (DPEP2) is a protein encoded by the DPEP2 gene in humans. It belongs to the family of membrane-bound dipeptidases, which break down various dipeptides, including leukotriene D4, certain antibiotic beta-lactam rings, and cystinyl-bis-glycine formed during glutathione breakdown.

DPEP2 is a dipeptidase that breaks down leukotriene D4 (LTD4) into leukotriene E4 (LTE4) and also hydrolyzes cystinyl-bis-glycine.

DPEP2 is also known as MBD2.
