DNM3

Description

The DNM3 (dynamin 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

DNM3 is a gene in humans that encodes a protein called Dynamin-3. This protein belongs to the dynamin family, known for their role in membrane budding, a process where small sacs (vesicles) are formed from cell membranes. DNM3 is particularly important in actin-membrane processes and is found at higher levels in individuals with Sézary's syndrome, a type of skin cancer.

DNM3 is a force-generating protein that interacts with microtubules, forming bundles of these structures. It can bind and break down GTP (guanosine triphosphate), a molecule essential for energy transfer in cells. DNM3 likely participates in the movement of small sacs (vesicles) within cells, specifically in the process of endocytosis, where substances are taken into the cell.

DNM3 is also known as Dyna III.
