DNAJC9
Description
The DNAJC9 (DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member C9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.
DNAJC9 acts as both a histone chaperone and a heat shock co-chaperone. As a histone chaperone, DNAJC9 forms a complex with MCM2 and histone H3-H4 heterodimers, aiding in histone H3-H4 recognition and nucleosome assembly. It can also function as a histone co-chaperone with TONSL and recruit other histone chaperones like ASF1A, NASP, and SPT2 to histone H3-H4 heterodimers. DNAJC9 also acts as a co-chaperone for HSP70 family members like HSPA1A, HSPA1B, and HSPA8, potentially recruiting HSP70 machinery to histone H3-H4 substrates to maintain histone integrity. DNAJC9 can assemble histones onto DNA in vitro.
DNAJC9 is also known as HDJC9, JDD1, SB73.
