DNAJC15

Description

The DNAJC15 (DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member C15) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

DNAJC15 acts as a negative regulator of the mitochondrial respiratory chain. It prevents the mitochondria from becoming hyperpolarized and restricts the production of ATP. DNAJC15 is an import component of the TIM23 translocase complex, which helps transport proteins into the mitochondria. It also stimulates the ATPase activity of HSPA9, a chaperone protein involved in protein folding.

DNAJC15 is also known as DNAJD1, HSD18, MCJ.
