DNAJB1

Description

The DNAJB1 (DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member B1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

DNAJB1, encoded by the DNAJB1 gene in humans, is a protein that plays a role in protein folding and chaperone activity. A fusion protein of DNAJB1 and PRKACA is associated with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma, a rare form of liver cancer.

DNAJB1 interacts with HSP70, stimulating its ATPase activity. It also promotes the association between HSC70 and HIP. During the attenuation and recovery phases of the heat shock response, DNAJB1 negatively regulates heat shock-induced HSF1 transcriptional activity. In vitro studies demonstrate that DNAJB1 stimulates ATP hydrolysis and the folding of unfolded proteins mediated by HSPA1A/B.

DNAJB1 is also known as HSPF1, Hdj1, Hsp40, RSPH16B, Sis1.
