DLGAP2

Description

The DLGAP2 (DLG associated protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

DLGAP2 is a human gene encoding a protein located at the postsynaptic density of neuronal cells. It belongs to the membrane-associated guanylate kinase family, characterized by PDZ, SH3, and guanylate kinase domains. This protein might contribute to the organization of synapses and neuronal cell signaling. Various isoforms have been identified, but their complete structure remains uncertain. DLGAP2 interacts with DLG4, a key synapse marker protein that binds to NMDA receptors and Shaker-type K+ channels. Like other synaptic genes, including its binding partner Shank2, DLGAP2 has been linked to autism.

DLGAP2 is also known as C8orf68, DAP2, ERICH1-AS1, SAPAP2.
