DHRS11
Description
The DHRS11 (dehydrogenase/reductase 11) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
DHRS11 is a versatile enzyme involved in the conversion of steroid hormones. It catalyzes the transformation of the 17-keto group of estrone, androgens (4- and 5-androstenes and 5-alpha-androstanes), and various diketosteroids into their corresponding 17-beta-hydroxyl and 3-hydroxyl metabolites. Additionally, DHRS11 exhibits reductive 3-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase activity towards a range of steroids, including 5-beta-androstanes, 5-beta-pregnanes, 4-pregnenes, and bile acids. This enzyme also has the capacity to reduce both endogenous and exogenous alpha-dicarbonyl compounds, as well as xenobiotic alicyclic ketones.
DHRS11 is also known as ARPG836, SDR24C1, spDHRS11.
