The DGKH (diacylglycerol kinase eta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.
DGKH, also known as diacylglycerol kinase eta (DAG kinase eta) or diglyceride kinase eta, is an enzyme that converts diacylglycerol (DAG) into phosphatidic acid (PA). This process regulates the levels of these two bioactive lipids, which act as second messengers in various cellular pathways. DGKH plays a crucial role in promoting cell growth by activating the Ras/B-Raf/C-Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway induced by epidermal growth factor (EGF). Additionally, DGKH regulates the recruitment of RAF1 and BRAF from the cytoplasm to membranes, facilitating their heterodimerization.
