DEPDC1B

Description

The DEPDC1B (DEP domain containing 1B) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

DEPDC1B, also known as XTP1, XTP8, HBV XAg-Transactivated Protein 8, is a human protein encoded by a gene of the same name located on chromosome 5. The exact function of DEPDC1B is currently unknown. Expression profiles show that DEPDC1B is widely expressed in human tissues. DEPDC1B is located on the long arm of chromosome 5 (5q12.1) and spans 103kb on the minus strand. The gene neighborhood of DEPDC1B includes five other genes: SEPT21 and PDE4D downstream, ELOV7 and KRT8P31 upstream, and PART1 on the complement strand. The DEPDC1B promoter region contains several transcription factors associated with proteins of ubiquitous expression, suggesting roles in cellular proliferation, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and differentiation. The promoter region also contains a few factors potentially related to tumor suppression or tumorgenesis.

DEPDC1B is also known as BRCC3, XTP1.
