DENND1A

Description

The DENND1A (DENN domain containing 1A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

DENND1A is a protein encoded by the DENND1A gene in humans. It contains a DENN domain.

DENND1A acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that regulates clathrin-mediated endocytosis by activating RAB35. It promotes the conversion of inactive GDP-bound RAB35 to its active GTP-bound form, facilitating the uptake of synaptic vesicles through clathrin-mediated endocytosis. DENND1A also mediates the exit of cargo from early endosomes. It binds to phosphatidylinositol-phosphates (PtdInsPs), particularly PtdIns(3)P.

DENND1A is also known as FAM31A, KIAA1608.
