The DDA1 (DET1 and DDB1 associated 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

DDA1, also known as Placenta cross-immune reaction antigen 1, is a protein that functions as a component of various DCX (DDB1-CUL4-X-box) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes. These complexes are essential for tagging proteins with ubiquitin, marking them for degradation by the proteasome. DDA1 acts as a scaffolding subunit, crucial for stabilizing these DCX complexes. DDA1 is also part of the DDD core complex, which includes DET1 and DDB1. This core complex works in conjunction with specific UBE2E enzymes, such as UBE2E1, UBE2E2, and UBE2E3, to create specific DDD-E2 complexes.

DDA1 is a component of several distinct DCX (DDB1-CUL4-X-box) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes. These complexes are responsible for tagging proteins with ubiquitin, which marks them for degradation by the proteasome. Within these DCX complexes, DDA1 acts as a scaffolding subunit, crucial for maintaining the stability of the complex.
