DCTPP1

Description

The DCTPP1 (dCTP pyrophosphatase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

DCTPP1 breaks down deoxycytidine triphosphate (dCTP) and similar molecules into simpler forms. It prefers dCTP and its close relatives, like 5-iodo-dCTP and 5-methyl-dCTP, potentially even working better with these. This process might safeguard DNA and RNA from being altered by harmful nucleotide analogs, preventing them from being incorporated into these crucial molecules.

DCTPP1 is also known as CDA03, RS21C6, XTP3TPA.
