DCTN5
Description
The DCTN5 (dynactin subunit 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
Dynactin 5 (p25) is a protein encoded by the DCTN5 gene. It is a subunit of dynactin, a complex involved in minus-end-directed transport within cells. DCTN5 is part of the pointed end of dynactin and is believed to bind membranous cargo. A pseudogene of DCTN5 is located on chromosome 1. This gene has multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing.
DCTN5 plays a crucial role in activating the dynein motor protein, facilitating its ultra-processive movement along microtubules.
