DBI

Description

The DBI (diazepam binding inhibitor, acyl-CoA binding protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

DBI can refer to Diazepam-binding inhibitor, a human gene.

DBI binds to medium and long-chain acyl-CoA esters with high affinity and may act as an intracellular carrier of these esters. It can also displace diazepam from the benzodiazepine (BZD) recognition site on the GABA type A receptor, suggesting a possible role as a neuropeptide that modulates GABA receptor activity.

DBI is also known as ACBD1, ACBP, CCK-RP, EP.
