DBF4

Description

The DBF4 (DBF4-CDC7 kinase regulatory subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

Protein DBF4 homolog A is a protein that is encoded by the DBF4 gene in humans.

DBF4A acts as a regulatory subunit for CDC7, activating its kinase activity and playing a key role in DNA replication and cell proliferation. It is essential for the progression of S phase. The CDC7-DBF4A complex specifically phosphorylates the MCM2 subunit at 'Ser-40' and 'Ser-53', regulating the initiation of DNA replication during the cell cycle.

DBF4 is also known as ASK, CHIF, DBF4A, ZDBF1.
