DAW1

Description

The DAW1 (dynein assembly factor with WD repeats 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

DAW1 is essential for the assembly of dynein, a motor protein crucial for cilia movement, within the cilia of various organs during embryonic development. This process involves the Kupffer's vesicle, a ciliated organ crucial for left-right asymmetry in vertebrates. DAW1 contributes to the initiation and strength of cilia movement during development.

DAW1 is also known as CILD52, DNAAF18, ODA16, WDR69.
