CTTNBP2

Description

The CTTNBP2 (cortactin binding protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

Cortactin-binding protein 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CTTNBP2 gene. This gene encodes a protein with six ankyrin repeats and several proline-rich regions. A similar gene in rat interacts with a central regulator of the actin cytoskeleton. CTTNBP2 has been shown to interact with: MOBKL3, PPP2CA, RP6-213H19.1, STRN3, and STRN.

CTTNBP2 controls the distribution of CTTN/cortactin in the dendritic spines of hippocampal neurons, which in turn regulates the growth and maintenance of these spines.

CTTNBP2 is also known as C7orf8, CORTBP2, Orf4.
