CTDSPL

Description

The CTDSPL (CTD small phosphatase like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

CTDSPL is an enzyme that, in humans, is encoded by the CTDSPL gene. CTDSPL has been shown to interact with SNAI1.

CTDSPL plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression by dephosphorylating the 'Ser-5' residue within the C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II. This dephosphorylation event is thought to control the transition from initiation and capping of RNA transcripts to their processive elongation. CTDSPL's activity is particularly important in non-neuronal cells, where it is recruited by REST (RE-1 silencing transcription factor) to neuronal genes containing RE-1 elements, leading to their silencing.

CTDSPL is also known as C3orf8, HYA22, PSR1, RBSP3, SCP3.
