CTDSP1

Description

The CTDSP1 (CTD small phosphatase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

CTDSP1, or Carboxy-terminal domain RNA polymerase II polypeptide A small phosphatase 1, is an enzyme encoded by the CTDSP1 gene in humans. CTDSP1 has been shown to interact with SNAI1.

CTDSP1 primarily dephosphorylates 'Ser-5' residues within the C-terminal domain (CTD) of RNA polymerase II's largest subunit, POLR2A. This dephosphorylation activity plays a role in regulating RNA polymerase II transcription, potentially by influencing the transition from initiation and capping to the elongation phase of transcription. CTDSP1 can be recruited by REST to neuronal genes containing RE-1 elements, resulting in the silencing of these genes in non-neuronal cells.

CTDSP1 is also known as NIF3, NLI-IF, NLIIF, SCP1.
