CTDNEP1

Description

The CTDNEP1 (CTD nuclear envelope phosphatase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

CTDNEP1 (CTD nuclear envelope phosphate 1) is a protein-coding gene involved in neural development. It is a member of the DXDX(T/V) phosphatase family and is a potential regulator of neural tube development in Xenopus. The gene promotes neural development by inhibiting Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs). The encoded protein is relatively small, containing only 244 amino acids. CTDNEP1, also known as CTD nuclear envelope phosphatase 1, possesses phosphatase activity and protein serine/threonine phosphatase activity. It encodes a protein serine/threonine phosphatase that dephosphorylates LPIN1 and LPIN2. LPIN1 and LPIN2 catalyze the conversion of phosphatidic acid to diacylglycerol, potentially affecting lipid concentrations within the endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus. Neural development takes place in the dorsal ectoderm.

CTDNEP1 is also known as DULLARD, HSA011916, NET56.
