CSTF2

Description

The CSTF2 (cleavage stimulation factor subunit 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

CSTF2, encoded by the CSTF2 gene in humans, is a nuclear protein involved in the 3' end cleavage and polyadenylation of pre-mRNAs. It contains an RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain and binds to GU-rich elements within the 3'-untranslated region of mRNAs. CSTF2 interacts with several other proteins, including CSTF3, SUB1, SYMPK, BARD1, and BRCA1.

CSTF2 is essential for the polyadenylation and 3'-end cleavage of mammalian pre-mRNAs. It directly binds to pre-mRNAs, playing a crucial role in this process.

CSTF2 is also known as CSTF64, CstF-64, XLID113.
