CSRP2
Description
The CSRP2 (cysteine and glycine rich protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
CSRP2, a gene encoding a protein with two LIM domains, is part of the CSRP family involved in developmental and cellular differentiation processes. The LIM domains contain cysteine-rich sequences, potentially binding zinc. CSRP2 may contribute to regulated cell growth. Other members of the family include CSRP1 and CSRP3.
CSRP2 is downregulated in response to factors like PDGF-BB or cell injury, which trigger smooth muscle cell proliferation and dedifferentiation. This suggests a role in controlling smooth muscle cell growth and development. It also appears to play a part in the development of the embryonic vascular system.
CSRP2 is also known as CRP2, LMO5, SmLIM.
