CSNK2A3

Description

The CSNK2A3 (casein kinase 2 alpha 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

CSNK2A3, also known as Casein Kinase II subunit alpha 3 (CK II alpha 3), is a catalytic subunit of a serine/threonine-protein kinase complex. This complex is constitutively active and phosphorylates a variety of substrates. It is an amplification-dependent oncogene, meaning that increased copies of the gene can lead to cancer development. The gene promotes cell proliferation and tumorigenesis by downregulating the expression of the tumor suppressor protein, PML. It is thought to play a role in the development and progression of lung cancer.

CSNK2A3 is also known as CSNK2A1P.
