CSNK1G1

Description

The CSNK1G1 (casein kinase 1 gamma 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

CSNK1G1, also known as Casein Kinase I isoform gamma-1 (CKI-gamma 1), is a serine/threonine protein kinase that preferentially targets acidic proteins like caseins. This enzyme can phosphorylate a wide range of proteins, playing a role in various cellular processes. Notably, CSNK1G1 participates in the Wnt signaling pathway, which is crucial for development and cellular processes. Furthermore, it regulates fast synaptic transmission mediated by glutamate, although this function is based on similarity to other proteins. CSNK1G1 is also known to phosphorylate the protein CLSPN.

CSNK1G1 is also known as CK1gamma1.
