CRYL1

Description

The CRYL1 (crystallin lambda 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

CRY1L (Crystallin, lambda 1) is a protein encoded by the CRYL1 gene in humans. It is involved in the production of L-gulonate, a key precursor for vitamin C synthesis.

CRY1L exhibits high L-gulonate 3-dehydrogenase activity, and also displays low dehydrogenase activity towards L-3-hydroxybutyrate (HBA) and L-threonate.

CRYL1 is also known as GDH, HEL30, gul3DH, lambda-CRY.
