CRLS1

Description

The CRLS1 (cardiolipin synthase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

CRLS1 catalyzes the production of cardiolipin (CL), a vital phospholipid found in mitochondrial membranes. This process involves transferring a phosphatidyl group from CDP-diacylglycerol to phosphatidylglycerol (PG). CL is crucial for maintaining mitochondrial function and adaptability, both under normal conditions and during stress.

CRLS1 is also known as C20orf155, CLS, CLS1, COSPD57, GCD10, dJ967N21.6.
