CREB5

Description

The CREB5 (cAMP responsive element binding protein 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

CREB5 is a human gene that encodes a protein belonging to the CRE (cAMP response element)-binding protein family. These proteins contain zinc finger and bZIP DNA-binding domains. CREB5 specifically binds to CRE as a homodimer or a heterodimer with c-Jun or CRE-BP1, acting as a CRE-dependent trans-activator. Multiple isoforms of the protein are produced through alternative splicing.

CREB5 binds to the cAMP response element (CRE) and activates gene transcription.

CREB5 is also known as CRE-BPA, CREB-5, CREBPA.
