CRCP

Description

The CRCP (CGRP receptor component) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

CRCP may refer to:

CRCP, also known as RPC9, is a subunit of RNA polymerase III (Pol III), a key enzyme involved in the transcription of DNA into RNA. It forms a mobile stalk structure with POLR3H/RPC8 that protrudes from the Pol III core, playing a crucial role in the initiation of transcription. Pol III is responsible for synthesizing small non-coding RNAs such as 5S rRNA, snRNAs, tRNAs, and miRNAs, which are essential for cellular functions. In addition to its role in transcription, Pol III acts as a DNA sensor involved in the innate immune response. It can detect non-self dsDNA and trigger the production of type I interferon and NF-kappa-B through the RIG-I pathway, ultimately limiting infection by intracellular bacteria and DNA viruses.

CRCP is also known as C17, CGRP-RCP, CGRPRCP, POLR3I, POLR3J, RCP, RCP9, RPC9.
