CPNE6

Description

The CPNE6 (copine 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

Copine-6 is a protein encoded by the CPNE6 gene in humans. It belongs to the copine family, which consists of calcium-dependent membrane-binding proteins. Copine-6 is specific to the brain and contains two N-terminal C2 domains and one von Willebrand factor A domain. It may play a role in synaptic plasticity.

Copine-6 is a calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein that plays a role in calcium-mediated intracellular processes. It binds phospholipid membranes in a calcium-dependent manner and is involved in dendrite formation by melanocytes.

CPNE6 is also known as copine-6.
