COA1

Description

The COA1 (cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

COA1, also known as COX15, is a crucial component of the MITRAC complex, which plays a key role in regulating the assembly of cytochrome c oxidase. This complex is involved in both the translation of mitochondrial-encoded components and the assembly of nuclear-encoded components imported into the mitochondrion. COA1 is essential for the assembly of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I and complex IV, contributing to the efficient assembly of mitochondrial complex I as part of the MCIA complex.

COA1 is also known as C7orf44, MITRAC15.
